Stick Together
Your wedding day is one of those rare, blink-and-it’s-gone kind of days. You spend months (sometimes years!) planning it, and then suddenly—it’s over, and you’re left wondering how it all flew by so fast. One thing I hear all the time from couples afterward is this:
“We both had amazing days… but we experienced them completely differently.”
And almost always? It’s because they barely saw each other.
So here’s my gentle, slightly big-sibling, slightly best-friend advice: stick together.
Not every second, of course—you’ll have moments apart—but being intentional about staying connected throughout the day can completely change how your wedding feels and how you remember it.
💛 Make it a shared experience, not two separate ones
It’s so easy to get pulled in different directions. One of you gets caught up chatting with family, the other gets dragged to the bar, and suddenly an hour has passed and you haven’t seen each other at all.
Try this instead: move through the day as a little team.
Walk into cocktail hour together. Float from table to table side-by-side. Even if you split off for a few minutes, find your way back. Those shared interactions become shared memories—and that’s the good stuff.
📸 Bonus: way more photos together
From a photography perspective (yes, I’m looking out for you here too), when you’re together, you naturally end up in more candid moments together. Laughing, hugging, reacting, stealing little glances—it all gets documented.
When couples spend most of the day apart, their gallery often ends up feeling like two parallel stories instead of one shared one. And trust me, those in-between, unscripted moments? They’re the ones you’ll treasure most.
🥂 Create little “pause” moments
The day can feel like a whirlwind. One of the best things you can do is intentionally pause—together.
Step aside for a minute after your ceremony. Sneak out during golden hour. Even just take 30 seconds during dinner to look around and soak it all in.
Hold hands. Take a breath. Say, “This is actually happening.”
Those tiny resets help you stay grounded and present instead of feeling like the day is just racing by.
👯♀️ You don’t have to entertain everyone separately
There’s often this unspoken pressure to make sure every guest gets attention. And while it’s important to connect with your people, you don’t have to divide and conquer all night long.
You can greet guests together. You can have conversations together. It actually makes interactions feel warmer and more personal—and way less like a checklist.
💬 Have a “find me” plan
Realistically, you will get separated at some point. It happens!
So have a simple plan:
“If we get pulled away, we’ll meet back here in 10 minutes.”
Or “If you can’t find me, I’ll be near the dance floor.”
It sounds small, but it helps you reconnect quickly instead of drifting apart for long stretches.
✨ Remember what the day is really about
At the end of it all, your wedding day isn’t about perfectly timed timelines, greeting every single guest, or hitting every Pinterest-worthy detail.
It’s about the two of you.
The way you look at each other. The way you laugh together. The quiet “can you believe this?” moments in between everything else.
When you stay close, you don’t just attend your wedding—you experience it together. And that’s what makes it unforgettable.
So here’s your takeaway:
Be present. Be intentional. And when in doubt—go find your person.
They’re the whole reason you’re there in the first place. 💛
